Title: Evaluation of high yielding and good quality new rice cultivars (8308 and 8315) in farmers fields of Mazandaran province

Abstract: Introducing new varieties of rice with high yield and quality is one of the most important ways to increase production and reduce rice imports. Conducting research-extension experiments is one of the important methods for introducing new varieties of rice. In this regard, two pure rice lines 8308 (IR75479-199-3-3) and 8315 (IR70422-95-1-1) with desirable yield, quality, and other agronomic traits were considered for implementation in 2017. For this experiment, several farms were selected from three cities of Amol, Mahmoudabad, and Babol, and the above seeds with control cultivar were seeded and transplanted on the farmer’s farm. Field evaluation and determination of different agronomic traits and yields of lines and control cultivars were recorded in each field. The results showed that the yield of line 8615 in Mahmoodabad city was 6765 kg/ha which was approximately equal to the yield of the Roshan cultivar and was higher than that of Tisa and Tarom. The average yield of lines 8615 and 8608 in three regions of Amol city were 6830 and 7558 kg, respectively, which were significantly higher than those of Fajr, Keshvari, and Shiroodi with 6700, 5204, and 6063 kg/ha, respectively. In Babol city, yield lines of 8615 and 8608 were 6450 and 6100 kg/ha, respectively, compared to Tarom Hashemi and Tisa with 3850 and 6100 kg/ha, respectively. Due to the high yield and desirable of other agronomic traits, two lines 8615 and 8608 have been accepted by farmers and are suitable for introducing new varieties of rice.
