Consensus meeting to deal with the water shortage crisis in rice cultivation
According to the public relations department of the Rice Research Institute of Iran (RRII), the consensus meeting to deal with the water shortage crisis in rice cultivation was held on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, at the head office of Langroud Agricultural Jahad management. Eng. Fatahi, the Director General of Langrod Agricultural Jihad, and some of the senior researchers of RRII involved in water scarcity in rice cultivation: Dr. Ebadi, Dr. Majidi, Dr. Yazdani and Dr. Khokhdaman spoke and discussed the next rice growing season problems and available solutions. The most important discussion topics were: drought management in the paddy field preparation, the worrying water level behind the Sepidroud dam, the use of new rice varieties such as Kian (drought stress tolerant), Gilar, and Anam (early mature and less water requirement cultivars), pest control methods and rice diseases in water shortage conditions.
