The Malaysian delegation from the Rice and Paddy Field Research Center visited the Rice Research Institute of Iran due to the signed MOU between the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension (AREEO) of the Ministry of Jahad Agriculture and the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI)
A Malaysian delegation, including Mr. Dr. Alexin Sonyan, director general of the Rice and Paddy Field Research Center of MARDI and Mr. Dr. Zaki Bin Mousa, senior agricultural researcher of MARDI visited Iran from August 27 to September 1, 2024, based on a signed MOU between the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension (AREEO) of Ministry of Jahad Agriculture and the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI).
An official meeting of the two institutions was held on the first day and both sides discussed the capabilities and joint research projects. On the second day, the joint meeting of the Malaysian delegation and the Agricultural Jahad Organization was held with the presence of Dr. Saleh Mohammadi, the director general of the Guilan Provincial Agricultural Jahad Organization, and the deputies and managers of that organization, Mrs. Dr. Hosseini, the director general of the rice research institute of Iran, the deputies and the head of the research departments. At this meeting between Iran and Malaysia in the rice sector both sides agreed to use the capabilities of the two countries in research and executive affairs was discussed. On the third and fourth day, the visiting delegation visited the research farms, research departments, and laboratories of the Rice Research Institute of Iran and talked about the rice quality properties, gene bank of microorganisms, and research related to the analysis of soil and plant samples.
To present the capabilities of the Iranian private sector of rice production, on the fifth day, seed banks, seed production farms, and modern rice-milling factories of the province were visited, and during the meetings, the views of the Malaysian side were discussed in this regard. On the last day of the visit, by summarizing the positive points and the feasibility of joint research work, the prospects of the joint work of both sides for the future were discussed.
